Collection: Manon Salmon
Manon Salmon is a French artist who entered the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Arts de Bourges in 2019, where she discovered painting. After her DNA in 2022, she decided to join the painting course at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels. Her practice of painting has enabled her to develop her plastic writing in other media, such as drawing and installation. It is these three mediums that she uses to explore the concept of the uncanny, developed by the psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud (1856-1939). It refers to a feeling of unease or discomfort experienced when something familiar is disturbed.
Strangeness questions our perception of reality and explores the areas of uncertainty between dream and reality, between the familiar and the unfamiliar, calling into question our understanding of the world.
In this work, this notion is developed through the prism of childhood.
